Ultimately the tragedy of the movie and its redemption turn out to be one and the same: that Philomena and her son have been looking for each other, and that they have found each other too late.
The story of a mother who has lost her son and a young woman punishing herself for the “sin” of having a child out of wedlock, Philomena was never going to be an easy ride.
