It is a truth universally acknowledged that every great friendship deserves a great road trip. I grew up in the gently rolling hills of the English South, a fact which, in Tolkienian terms, makes me something of a hobbit. Perhaps as a consequence, when it comes to road tripping, I've always yearned for the wilder corners of Britain. The rugged and moody Cornish coastline, the astonishing grandeur of the Lake District.
